Therapy for Childhood Trauma in Adults

What is Therapy for Childhood Trauma in Adults?

As someone who survived childhood trauma, you may face difficulties in your life that are common with others who have gone through similar circumstances. One issue is that you have difficulty implementing boundaries with others and sometimes feel that your needs don’t matter. It’s so stressful to advocate for your own needs because you don’t want to rock the boat, and then it leads to not feeling good that you’re not prioritizing yourself. You may also monitor other people’s moods instead of your own. Sometimes it feels better to avoid conflict to have that stability in your life.

It’s also not uncommon for you to have chronic health problems, as well as depression, anxiety, or substance abuse. Many survivors have tried different remedies to address these issues including many visits with their primary care doctor (PCP), taking medications, exercise, acupuncture, chiropractic work, etc. Sometimes these work, but it’s not uncommon for flare-ups or relapses to come up when stress comes into your life.

How Farhad Mofidi Can Help?

I use evidence based treatments that have worked with millions of people. I can help you shift the way you think about a situation so that you can feel more joy

in your life. I also help you with processing some of your traumatic memories, so they don't have power over your life. I also help you by identifying what's important in life, so you can have more hope and optimism about your present and future.

Throughout my 10+ years of clinical years of experience, I've worked with adult survivors of childhood trauma. I know about the process of dealing with difficulties in these relationships including setting boundaries or frustration with potential caregivers, the mental and physical health problems that occur usually in someone's life, and trying to live your life with feelings of guilt and shame at times. I'm trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which helps people with processing some of their traumatic memories and symptoms. I'm also a CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional), and I'm also trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).

I'm happy that you are taking that first step towards your healing journey, I know it takes a lot of courage to start that process of searching for a therapist.
