About Farhad Mofidi
San Jose Therapist
I tried many different ways to navigate life either by myself or without as much support, but was met either with disappointment or feeling more lost. I had difficulty coping with these disappointments and wasn’t sure how to navigate through external and internal obstacles, such as not feeling good enough.
It took a long time for me to finally reach out to professional help, and therapy helped begin the process of me starting to work through some of these struggles. Discussing emotions and the past was tough, but it was worth it because I felt like I got things off my chest, felt recognized about what I went through, and figured out ways to deal with it.
I also learned different ways to deal with challenging obstacles and helped figure out different ways that I wanted to live my life. I also learned to take more risks in life. Sometimes those moments hurt and things didn't work out, but sometimes it led to opportunities that I always wanted including supportive and fun social groups and connections, new hobbies, and a desire to make a difference in other people's lives.
Hi there, I'm so glad you're here!
My name is Farhad Mofidi. I'm a foodie, an avid 49er fan, a competitive party game player (that somehow always loses), and I love a great adventure around the San Francisco Bay Area. I'm also a therapist and private practice owner in Los Altos, California.
I’m passionate about my relationships with loved ones, as well as diving into my interests like dancing or finding hidden gems in my area. I also love when I make personal accomplishments that are out of my comfort zone, such as moving to a new city or traveling solo to another country without knowing anyone. Connection, adventure, and courage are important values in my life.
But it didn’t always look like this. After getting out of a toxic relationship filled with trauma, I realized that starting your life new is a lot harder than you thought it might be. It takes a lot more work than you thought, and you're already burned out from so much past trauma. I experienced all the emotions such as social anxiety, depression, hopelessness, and feeling lost and isolated.
“I am deeply committed to helping gentle souls who, despite trying countless ways to feel better, still grapple with past difficult experiences and the persistent negative thoughts about themselves that accompany them. ”
I’ve worked with many different types of populations, but I have realized over time that I have a strong passion for helping people affected by relational trauma to live the life that they have always wanted. I know that by helping one person, that one person will be able to also make a positive difference to everyone else that they meet in life.
I am determined to help survivors of relational trauma process their trauma and live a more meaningful life, that involves working towards building resilience with life’s challenges, stopping the cycle of trauma, and discovering the most authentic version of themselves.
The exercises and tools I’ve utilized over the years have helped clients get what they need, whether it’s building safe and intimate connections with others, working towards more self-development, choosing how they want to live their life with their own passions and interests, and learning to achieve their own independence and take risks in life.
My favorite part of therapy is hearing and seeing the stories of transformation from fellow clients – that with the tools I share in therapy, it’s possible for people to start, grow, and change their life. Hearing stories like these is so rewarding and keeps me excitedly moving forward.
If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you.
Best,
Farhad Mofidi
