Therapy for Domestic Violence Survivors

What is Therapy for Domestic Violence Survivor?

As you adjust to a life as a survivor of domestic violence, you may have difficulty adjusting to living in a safe environment and may feel extremely vigilant with your surroundings. You could also be dealing with increased anxiety, flashbacks, nightmares and always feel that you're reliving the abuse and violence and not feeling safe or stable.

You may have a lack of support from family and friends after leaving the relationship and feel isolated, which makes it difficult for you to deal with challenging situations without a lot of support. You might also experience feelings of doubt as a result, feeling unworthy of love since you're not receiving it on an ongoing basis, and guilt and shame thinking you did something wrong and therefore you're a bad person.

I'm happy that you are taking that first step towards your healing journey, I know it takes a lot of courage to start that process of searching for a therapist.

How Farhad Mofidi Can Help?

Through using evidence-based treatments that have worked with millions of people, I can help you process some of your traumatic memories and symptoms, so you can begin your healing and those memories do not have power over you. I also help you by identifying what's important in life, so you can have more hope and optimism about your present and future.

Throughout my 10+ years of clinical years of experience, I've worked with survivors of domestic violence and know first hand about the process of finally leaving the relationship, the court process including separation and obtaining a restraining order, safety planning, and life post-separation. I'm trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which helps people with processing some of their traumatic memories and symptoms. I'm also a CCTP (Certified Clinical Trauma Professional), and I'm also trained in ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).

I'm happy that you are taking that first step towards your healing journey, I know it takes a lot of courage to start that process of searching for a therapist.
